April 17, 2008A Beautiful Day Event
Over the weekend Lisa, Joel and I had the privilege of being a part of 55 vendor team from Houston to support a surprise 65th Birthday Party for the Day family in Marietta, Oklahoma. The event took place on the family’s 2000 acre ranch which included rolling hills, several ponds, cattle, horses and authentic ranch hands. The event setting was surreal, which included a restored Sears and Roebuck home with wrap around porch, wind mill, fire pit area and fruit trees which lined the perimeter of the home. A massive tent was erected near the home and custom barn, to host the 400 guests participating in Mr. Day’s surprise celebration. Ann Whittington (website) did an amazing job coordinating this remote site event. The event included a western theme, linens, bandanas, steak and seafood and of course sunflowers. The attention to detail was impressive, creative and absolutely adorable. The Works band from Houston entertained the guests the first half of the evening. After an electric performance by the Works, the guests were treated to a live performance by Diamond Rio. The performance was energetic and concluded with the family being photographed with the band. The celebration continued on Sunday with a brunch for 200 guests. Again, the setting was breathtaking and unbelievable. Thank you to the family and vendors, who made this event possible. And to Mr. Day, Happy Birthday!!!
