Houston Newborn and Family Photographer

Houston newborn and family photographer, Lisa Carr, recently photographed this family’s first Portraits with their newborn baby girl. When searching for family photographers in Houston, you need to look at their online portfolio and also call and learn more about the studio and the entire process. A newborn’s first photography session is recommended to be scheduled within 7-12 days of birth. We recommend calling us and having a phone consultation before your session so you can prepare in advance.

During our Family Portrait Session consultation, we will discuss the details of your session as well as clothing for your Family session. Color harmony and balance is key to a finished Portrait. We do have a private nursing and dressing area available for our clients during their sessions. Many clients get dressed at our studio for their session and have time for finishing touches for hair and makeup.

We strive to create artwork for your home that can be hung in a nursery or hallway. Newborns stay this small for a short window of time. So many parents come back to us at 3 months and 6 months to document the growth of their baby. It is very important to capture this time in a baby’s life since they grow so fast. We encourage you to view our online portfolio and to learn more about our sessions and artwork.

Did you know that Michael Carr Photography has a Newborn Portrait division? The division is called Belly to Baby Studios, and Lisa Carr is the photographer. Belly to Baby Studios is a full service Portrait studio and offers Pregnancy, Newborn, Baby and Family Portraits. We help you and guide you all the way from Portrait session concept to Portrait completion. We love to create finished artwork for our client’s home. The artwork will appreciate over time and provide years of joy. When you view our Portraits and albums, they will take you back to a moment in time that in the end will slip by so quickly.

You can view more of our newborn portfolio here. Maternity Portraits and our Family Portraits here. Our studio is conveniently located in the Galleria area, in a professional office building. We have a private nursing lounge so you can relax and feed your baby between sets.

Call us at 713-461-2862 and we can schedule and discuss your portrait session.

Certified Professional Photographers

If you visit our websites often, you may have seen a new logo or professional designation by our names: CPP. What is a CPP? What does that really mean? CPP stands for Certified Professional Photographer. Certification is only granted by Professional Photographers of America (PPA), the world’s largest non-profit association organized for professional photographers. Michael Carr, CPP, recently earned this professional designation. I had to pass a written question test, as well as submit a portfolio or body of work for review. My portfolio had to demonstrate specific lighting, posing, color balance, and harmony in our photographs. In February 2016, over 80 photographers submitted their portfolios, and only 50% passed and earned the CPP designation. To maintain this credential, I have to recertify every 3 years. This process insures photographers remain current in our photographic field and current in our craft.
PPA includes additional info on the CPP standard and you can read about that below:

“These days, photography is practiced by anyone with a smartphone, but it’s mastered by few. When it comes to those once-in-a-lifetime moments—when you’ve got one shot at getting it right—you better make sure the person behind the camera is a pro. A proven professional photographer that is.

There’s no greater proof than when the letters “CPP” follow a photographer’s name. They designate a Certified Professional Photographer, someone who is putting in the extra work to stay above the rest. It assures you of this photographer’s professional knowledge and experience, while also declaring that photographer as one who has achieved and maintains a higher standard.

See the Difference Certified Professional Photographers Make

Consistency. CPPs know how to achieve great results—every time. You get a strong collection of images that tell your story, not a few lucky snapshots, and you will work with someone who knows how to produce a quality image under any circumstances.

Technical Skills. CPPs are more than picture takers. They are students of art, lighting, posing, fashion and even interior design. They combine these elements to create images that fit your unique style and become works of art you will treasure for generations.

Unique Artistry. CPPs have the skills to create unique, customized works of art—not cookie-cutter pictures. They follow an artistic vision. It’s your story captured as a collection of art.

Professionalism. When you hire a CPP, you know you’re getting someone who is willing to go the extra mile to deliver the best possible images. They are business owners who thrive on customer service and satisfaction, and they continuously aim to produce products that exceed your—and their—best expectations. These images are keepsakes whose stories you’ll tell time and time again and treasure forever.

Just about anyone can take a good picture every now and then. But when life’s biggest moments are unfolding and there’s just one chance to capture that perfect memory, don’t risk it. Entrust your photography needs to a Certified Professional Photographer and see the difference for yourself.”

Mom & Baby’s First Newborn Portraits

Houston newborn portrait photographers, Belly to Baby Studios, recently captured this tender moment between a Mom and her newborn son: Mom & Baby’s first newborn portraits. He was only 12 days old at the time this portrait was taken. We just completed Thomas’ newborn session and I asked his Mom if she would like to take a few photos with her son; just the two of them. She agreed and as I was talking with her during the session, this moment happened. I always encourage Moms to just take a few photos with their baby while they are so little. Of course, most of the time, all Moms tell me how tired they are, and how they don’t feel like getting in front of a camera especially after just delivering a baby. I get it, I was at that stage also and also felt the same way…tired, exhausted and hormones going crazy. But as time goes on we all are busy and we will never get this time back, nor will our babies be this small and tiny in our arms. Time goes fast and our memories of moments and details will fade. The best way to preserve those memories is through a photograph.

To view more samples of our pregnancy, newborn and family portraits, visit www.bellytobabystudios.com or call 713-461-2862 to schedule an in studio consultation or portrait session.

Houston Newborn Photographers

Houston maternity and newborn photographer, Lisa Carr, recently photographed Henry here in the studio. When I talked with Henry’s Mom over the phone, I learned a lot about her style and her taste. We talked about her personal style, color tones and décor in her home. For Henry’s newborn session, I did photograph him in the color tones and style like what is shown in our newborn gallery on our website. I also wanted to give her a different look for a few of the newborn portraits. The black and white portrait shown here is more of an art piece for their home. I knew, based on her style, that this newborn portrait would be different and would fit in perfectly hanging on a wall in their home.

We have a full prop closet here in the studio for our Maternity & Newborn Portrait clients. Our prop closet has over 20 different backgrounds, 10 different baskets, a variety of hats, diaper covers and pants and even tutus for newborn girls. We also have over 15 different wraps for your baby. For your newborn session, all you need to bring is your baby and milk or formula. Extra diapers are always recommended. You can arrive here and just relax during your baby’s newborn session.

Belly to Baby Studios is located in the Galleria area, in a professional office building, 77057. We specialize in Maternity and Newborn photography. We recommend scheduling your baby’s session actually before your delivery date, if at all possible. In some cases, this is not always possible and we understand that. We do have Moms call us that have already had their baby, and their baby is a few weeks old. That is ok, we do not turn babies away when they are outside of the ideal 12 day old window. The important thing is to get your baby photographed when they are still tiny and a newborn. After all, the newborn phase is a short window of time. You can reach us at 713-461-2862 (click to call), or visit our site to learn more: www.bellytobabystudios.com
