Houston Senior Portrait Photographers

Houston senior portrait photographers, Michael Carr Photography, recently photographed Kate’s senior portraits here in the studio. An in studio session was a perfect option for Kate, since it has been so hot and the weather is always unpredictable. Before her session, Kate went to Façade and had her make up done there at their salon. She brought several different outfits so she would have a variety of looks and options for her portraits. Michael was able to get to know Kate during her session, and learned that she enjoys film and wants to pursue a career in this field. We were able to have fun during her session and change up her sets and backgrounds to compliment her clothing looks. She did a great job selecting her outfits and looks and this helped make her session go smoothly.

When selecting clothing options for your senior portrait session, below are 5 tips:

1) Select solid colored clothing. A black long sleeved top is always a classic, timeless look.

2) Select simple accessories to compliment your outfits. Keep earrings simple and small. You should be the center of attention in your portraits, not your accessories.

3) Select and wear proper undergarments. For example, if you plan on wearing white pants, make sure you wear nude undergarments versus black undergarments. Or if you plan on wearing a strapless dress or top, bring a strapless bra.

4) Select a variety of outfits. Bring at least 6 outfits, and we can review before your session and usually photograph you in 3-4 outfits. Casual, dressy, and fun outfits are all great options.

5) Select clothes you love and feel confident it. Yes it is fun to shop and buy new outfits, especially for your portrait session. If you are unsure of an outfit, or a look, it’s best to reconsider and select outfits you love!

Houston High School Senior Photographer

Houston senior portrait photographer, Michael Carr, recently photographed Eryn’s senior portraits outdoors. Eryn will be attending LSU next month and we are thrilled for her. She was fun to photograph and we both enjoyed her senior portrait session. We talked with Eryn before her session and helped her select and plan out which outfits would look best for her portraits. Houston portrait photographer, Michael Carr, recently photographed Courtney & Brian’s Engagement Portraits. Since their wedding was coming up and going to be outdoors, the couple selected an outdoor location for their engagement portraits. We were able to photograph a few classic outdoor portraits as well as a few casual, fun, relaxed portraits. We spoke with Courtney over the phone prior to the session, and discussed the clothing they wanted to wear for their portraits. Courtney also had Corinne with Façade apply her makeup for this session. With the variety of images captured during their session, the couple was able to select a wall portrait and a portrait album to display their favorite images.

Houston bridal portrait photographer, Michael Carr, recently photographed Laura’s portrait on location at Las Velas. This location was chosen by the bride since the décor is an Italian feel. Her bridal portrait session was scheduled one month prior to her wedding. Her portraits were ready for delivery in time for her wedding so she could display them at the reception. Houston newborn portrait photographers, Belly to Baby Studios, recently captured this tender moment between a Mom and her newborn son: Mom & Baby’s first newborn portraits. He was only 12 days old at the time this portrait was taken. We just completed Thomas’ newborn session and I asked his Mom if she would like to take a few photos with her son; just the two of them. She agreed and as I was talking with her during the session, this moment happened. I always encourage Moms to just take a few photos with their baby while they are so little. Of course, most of the time, all Moms tell me how tired they are, and how they don’t feel like getting in front of a camera especially after just delivering a baby. I get it, I was at that stage also and also felt the same way…tired, exhausted and hormones going crazy. But as time goes on we all are busy and we will never get this time back, nor will our babies be this small and tiny in our arms. Time goes fast and our memories of moments and details will fade. The best way to preserve those memories is through a photograph.

Engagement Portraits Photographer, Michael Carr, recently photographed Katy & Matt’s Engagement Portraits. The couple wanted a mix of outdoor at a nearby park and also a relaxed home environment. The lighting used for these portraits was a mix of natural light balanced with strobes. Michael had to work quickly and efficiently with the couple since they were attending a wedding within 1 hour of the session.
