When planning a family photography session, there are many things to consider and plan for. First, think about the overall look and feel you’d like to achieve – is it a formal portrait session or a casual portrait? Knowing this will help you choose an appropriate location, outfit choices and location.
You can expect a personalized, customized, and not rushed session experience. Ladies: hair and makeup is always recommended and helps you look and feel your best in front of the camera. We partner with a nearby salon that offers this service in their salon or at our studio. It is our goal to make you feel comfortable throughout the session so we can capture your family timeless portraits.
Our portrait process begins with a phone consultation.
During this phone consult we will discuss the individuals being photographed and the logistics involved behind the session. In addition, we will discuss clothing attire and overall photography goals of the session. What type of images are you looking for: classic, timeless, indoor, outdoor, contemporary?

We will help you with coordinating and planning clothing selections for your family portrait to make sure everyone looks their best. By selecting classic clothing this will help maintain a timeless look to your portrait versus dating your portrait with trendy clothing.
Next, decide on the type of outfits your family will wear. If you’re going for a formal look, consider coordinating colors or dressing everyone similarly. This will create a harmonious and polished look. If the session is more relaxed, feel free to dress according to individual preferences but try to stick with a similar color palette so that all your family members coordinate nicely in the photos.
